Clutch & Driveline Repair in San Jose

A worn clutch or failing driveline component rarely fixes itself, and putting off the repair usually means a flywheel job turns into a transmission job. Autobahn Service of San Jose performs clutch, flywheel, and driveline work for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and all Asian and domestic makes — including BMW M and Mercedes-AMG performance models — serving San Jose, Santa Clara, Milpitas, Sunnyvale, and the greater South Bay.

Our ASE-certified technicians use OEM and OE-equivalent parts and follow manufacturer torque and break-in specifications. Every repair is backed by our 2-year / 24,000-mile warranty on parts and labor. Call 408.944.0408 to schedule a clutch or driveline inspection.

Signs Your Clutch or Driveline Needs Service

  • Clutch pedal feels soft, spongy, or sticks to the floor
  • Engine RPMs rise without matching acceleration (slipping clutch)
  • Grinding or chattering when shifting
  • Burning smell after city driving or hill climbs
  • Vibration through the floor at highway speed
  • Clunking from underneath when shifting between drive and reverse
  • Visible fluid leaks from the bell housing or driveline

What’s Included in Our Clutch & Driveline Service

  • Road test to confirm the symptom and rule out unrelated causes
  • Inspection of clutch master and slave cylinders, hydraulic lines, and fluid
  • Pressure plate, clutch disc, throw-out bearing, and pilot bearing replacement as a set
  • Flywheel inspection, with resurfacing or replacement when out of spec
  • Rear main seal inspection during clutch service
  • Driveshaft, center support bearing, U-joint, and CV-joint inspection
  • Differential fluid and seal inspection where applicable

Why It Matters for European Performance Vehicles

BMW M and Mercedes-AMG vehicles use upgraded clutch assemblies, dual-mass flywheels, and reinforced driveshafts engineered for higher torque and higher RPM operation. Replacing a dual-mass flywheel with a generic single-mass unit, or pairing the wrong clutch disc with a stock pressure plate, will cause shudder, noise, and premature failure. Our team uses the OEM or OE-equivalent clutch and flywheel specified for your vehicle and follows the correct break-in procedure so the new components seat properly.

How Long It Takes & What It Costs

A typical clutch replacement takes one to two days depending on access and which related components need service. Driveline repairs (driveshaft, center support, CV joints) vary based on the component. We provide a written estimate before any repair begins. Call 408.944.0408 for current pricing on your specific vehicle.
